03h — Analysis (HEALPix-NESTED nside=128 substrate, Option C)

LifeWatch ERIC

Option C — full GLMM refit at HEALPix nside=128. Runs the bambi MCMC GLMM and the statsmodels variational-Bayes GLMM on this repo’s HEALPix nside=128 NESTED substrate (~46 km cells), then writes a comparison JSON (results/headline_statistic_healpix.json) that lays the nside=128 fit side-by-side with TWO reference values:

  1. weatherxbio_v0_2_1_cea — published CEA value of +0.479 (the canonical external reference for substrate-robustness).

  2. annefou_nside64_2026_05 — the reference repo’s nside=64 fit of +0.454 +- 0.115 at commit b7cdd47 of annefou/weatherxbiodiversity-projection. This is the closest cross-substrate reference and the most informative comparator (same pipeline, same data, just one nside coarser).

Strict tolerance test — the headline coefficient sc_TEI_delta from the nside=128 VB fit is checked against three conditions, against BOTH reference values:

  1. Sign: mean > 0 (same direction as both references).

  2. Significance: p_2sided < 0.05 (VB summary z-test).

  3. Magnitude: within +-30% of each reference value.

All three must pass against at least one reference for a “Substrate-robust” verdict. If the magnitude check passes against nside=64 but not CEA, that is reported. Per the user’s instruction for this Option C dispatch: if the GLMM destabilises (bambi MCMC fails, statsmodels VB returns weak coefficients, etc.) we report diagnostics and STOP — no silent methodological fallbacks.

Bayesian GLMM (bambi / PyMC) on HEALPix nside=128

Same NUTS sampler config as the nside=64 fit (2 chains x 2000 draws + 1000 tune). If bambi / pymc / pytensor is unavailable, the script logs the failure and exits 0; the statsmodels VB fit downstream still produces a usable posterior summary. No silent fallbacks to alternative priors / dropped sparse species — that is left to a follow-up study with explicit methodological deviations recorded.
